COVID-19 Updates

***** Reminder- Social distancing is a REQUIREMENT. Non-family members must maintain a 10 ft distance in the water and 6 ft on land. *****

July 8, 2020

We want to remind you of the rules of the pool for phase 3.

  • Social distancing is a must- that means 6 ft on deck and 10 ft in the water

  • Parents are responsible for the actions of their children

  • Absolutely no guests

If these rules cannot be maintained, we will have to:

  • Bring Back the Sign Up Genius

  • Limit Capacity to less than 75%

This is a new process and learning experience for us. The safety of our members is the most important thing for us.Thank you for your patience and understanding.

June 30, 2020

Starting tomorrow, we enter phase 3 of the Virginia Forward program. Our capacity will be set at 75%, and social distancing rules still apply. This means 6′ on land and 10′ in the water.

This is a new process and learning experience for us. If there is an overwhelming response and we need to turn members away, we will go back to the Sign Up Genius to alleviate the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are entering phase 3 of the Virginia Forward program.  Social distancing is a requirement for the operation and safety of the pool and our members. The lifeguards are not responsible for monitoring and policing social distancing. This is the responsibility of the members. The lifeguards are responsible for cleaning, performing pool related activities and most importantly lifeguarding. Their focus is the safety and well-being of the swimmers in the pool and on the deck. This phase starts on July 1, and based on the information we have received we have set the following rules for the pool:

  • Capacity will be limited to 75%, or 130 people.

  • All members will be required to check in and check out.

  •  The pool will close every 3 hours for a 30 minute break to allow for cleaning and disinfecting of the facilities. During this time all personal belongings need to be removed.

  •  Members will be required to bring their own chairs; tables and umbrellas will be provided.

  •  No Pavilion rentals.

  •  Sugar Shack will remain closed.

  • The baby pool will be limited to one family per hour, a Sign Up Genius will be provided to sign up in advance.

  • There will be no guests to start.

  • Social distancing must be observed, including maintaining a 6 ft distance from the lifeguards.

  • The office is off-limits; no entry unless there is an emergency.

  •  Children under the age of 13 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

This is a new process and learning experience for us. If there is an overwhelming response and we need to turn members away, we will go back to the Sign Up Genius to alleviate the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

June 25, 2020

The last 3 weeks have been a learning experience for us. We were able to operate the pool in a limited fashion and have tried to make it accessible to all members. We have received fair criticism of the Sign up genius, in that we did not set the rules equitably. Because of this, some members have not been able to use the pool.

Therefore, for the last 4 days of June we are creating a new Sign up genius to give everyone an opportunity to use the pool, before Phase 3 of Virginia Forward starts.  For those 4 days members will be limited to one sign up for the period. If there are any spots available on a single day, you can email the treasurer at: treasurer@rfpool.com after 10:00 a.m. on the day the spot is available.

We are still gathering information for Virginia’s Phase 3 plan. As soon as we know we all update the website and post the rules for phase 3.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to a better experience for all.

Reminder- By order of the Governor and the County Health Department Rolling Forest can be open for the following reasons:

  • Lap Swimming
  • Diving
  • Exercise
  • Instruction

Please keep this in mind while you are at the pool. The pool is not open for free play. We do not want to lose our permits.

June 9, 2020

Based on the latest information for Phase 2 opening of the Virginia Plan, we’re updating our operation plan for the pool opening. The Governor has established some mandatory requirements for Indoor and Outdoor swimming pools. These are some of the highlights:

  • Indoor and outdoor swimming pools may be open for lap swimming, diving, exercise, and instruction only.
  •  Lap swimming must be limited to three persons per lane with ten feet of physical distance per swimmer.
  • Diving areas must be limited to three persons per diving area with ten feet of physical distance per diver.

The full plan for Phase 2 opening can be found using this link: Virginia Forward Phase 2

The information for Pools can be found on pages 23-24.

We also received instructions from the Division of Environmental Health of Fairfax county stating  that per the Governor’s orders, a pool cannot open for recreational purposes. It may open only for:

  • Lap Swimming
  • Diving
  • Exercise
  • Instruction

Baby pools must remain closed since there use would not qualify for any of the 4 reasons listed.

This limits the capacity in the water in the main pool to 21 swimmers. For this reason, we are reducing the number of reservations from 50 to 30. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we are doing this with the safety of all our patrons in mind.
